Bioremediation is the process of using naturally occurring, safe, and beneficial microorganisms to degrade environmentally harmful contaminants while turning them into non-toxic compounds. In particular, these organisms break down most petroleum hydrocarbons and transform them into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water. Further, this natural process produces valuable bio-nutrients utilized by both plant and aquatic life. Our products are used to remediate contamination on land, fresh water, or salt water.
Bioremediation is a great solution for every industry that encounters hydrocarbons: oil and gas, shipping, airlines and other aviation sectors, restaurants, supermarkets, food processing plants, water treatment facilities, septic and sewer, warehouses, agriculture, hospitals, and schools, to name a few. Every ship with a bilge tank or galley will benefit from our products. We remediate oil from spills, equipment and also F.O.G.’s (fats, oil, and greases) clogging grease traps and sewer lines.
A more exhaustive list of industries we help may be found at the bottom of this page.V irtually all industries can benefit from bioremediation cleaners and degreasers!
Bioremediation can save time, reduce costs and deliver superior results when compared to traditional methods. With no hazards, toxicity or pollutants, our products are safe for everyone and the environment.
According to EPA Publication 64O/k-93/002: “The United States is the world leader in field implementation of bioremediation, an attractive alternative to conventional methods of cleaning up persistent hazardous wastes in the environment.” It further states, “The potential use of bioremediation technologies is significant, as federal and state governments, private industry, and others responsible for environmental cleanup efforts add it to their arsenals of methods for environmental reclamation.”
Microbial remediation products have been around for decades. What makes our products achieve amazing results in less time is the targeted use of specifically selected microbial organisms and the level of their concentration. Through years of research, our products have been formulated to target the exact hydrocarbon or contamination in question to achieve optimal results. Our microbes are preserved in a dormant state until they are activated by mixing with water.
The time to remediate a spill depends on the treatment plan you select. There are many factors that determine the timeline, including the scope of the contamination and the desired timeline for results. We can provide a plan and a more specific timeline once we have inspected a site. Most sites can be restored in as little as a few weeks, though more severe contamination may require several months to remediate.
The microorganisms in our products are naturally occurring and biodegradable. They thrive when they have three things: water, a temperature between 32°F and 140°F, and a food source (hydrocarbons and FOG). They seek out the food source and feed on the contamination until it is gone. The byproducts of this process are carbon dioxide and water. Also, our products double as a fertilizer. Once remediation is complete, the microorganisms return to dormancy or expire. The environment is free of contamination, and nutrient concentrations are higher. Treated water becomes clean and safe for use on farmland, both for irrigation and for animal consumption.
The microorganisms in our products are in a concentrated mixture that is diluted with water. If product has been spilled on a site or applied in concentrate for any reason, simply dilute the product with water per the instructions, and the microorganisms will go to work. Our products are non-hazardous and non-toxic — even in concentrated form, they will not harm the environment. If there is no food source for the microorganisms, they degrade quickly. If your spill needs to be remediated on a quicker timeline, we have specialized products and services that will clean it faster. Contact our office to discuss dilution ratios and the best products for your site.
The microorganisms digest the oil in a way that is similar to how the human stomach breaks down food. In the process, the hydrocarbon molecule is broken down into base components of water and carbon dioxide. The oil is completely gone.
Our products will not harm paint or cause rusting.
Our products will remediate hydrocarbon contamination in salt or fresh water. The microorganisms use the oxygen in water for their bio-chemical process.
Using microorganisms to remediate oil spills and contaminations is not a new concept. There is a chance you have heard of this process before and may have even tried another product. Many advances have been made through research and experience. Our scientists have spent decades studying these microorganisms and learning how they function, feed, and thrive. EnviroLogic products, as well as the experience of our team, are unparalleled. Our research team has developed several products that allow us to target specific types of spills with specific types of microorganisms. The levels of microbial concentration and the impact of our products are unmatched in the market.

The USDA and FDA classify our products as A1, which means they are approved for “use as general cleaning agents on all surfaces…. and may be used in the manufacture of any packing, processing, or other material intended for use in contact with food.”
